Changes due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
Normally applications for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa are made from the applicants Home Country. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, UKVI has introduced a temporary concession allowing applications for this visa type from within the UK, up until the 31 May 2020.
Who can apply
There are no limits on applications from British Overseas Citizens, Overseas Territories Citizens and British Nationals Overseas.
You can also apply if you are a national of one of the following countries, but places are limited:
- Hong Kong
- New Zealand
- Republic of Korea
You can only apply once for this visa, and you cannot apply if you have previously held a visa under the Working Holidaymakers Scheme.
You also cannot apply if you have children that live with you or whom you are financially responsible for. You cannot you bring family as your dependents, they would only be able to apply as a General Visitor if they wished to visit you in the UK.
You must have £1890 in your personal bank account on the day that you apply.
You need to apply from your Home Country, and you cannot make an application from within the UK.
If you are from the Republic of Korea, Taiwan or Hong Kong, you need to register your interest in the scheme and usually the registration is only open for a short period. You will also need to obtain a certificate of sponsorship reference number and apply within 3 months of receiving this.
