Staff printing

Staff printing is predominantly done using networked Multifunction Devices (MFDs), which allow for printing, scanning to email and photocopying.

Before enquiring with us to set up a new printer, please consult your Department Administrator to find out if you require a code to use the office printer/scanner.

Add network printer to a Mac

Before you start to map a networked printer you need to find the Goldsmiths Asset number, which is usually on the green Goldsmiths sticker on the side of the machine. Take down the full details of the printer, usually expressed as:

cgs-mfd-*5 digit number*
eg: cgs-mfd-09999

  1. Go to Finder > Applications
  2. Select the Install Goldsmiths Printer application from the list
  3. Enter the asset number of the printer as instructed

The printer should be mapped and visible in System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.
If you are prompted for a username and password please enter your username in the format jblog005@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk and your campus password.

Please note this can take up to five minutes to complete.

Add network printer to a Windows PC

Before you start to map a networked printer you need to find the Goldsmiths Asset number, usually on the green Goldsmiths sticker on the side of the machine. Take down the full details of the printer, usually expressed as:

eg: cgs-mfd-09999

  1. Open up a new Windows explorer window by pushing the windows key and the E key, or clicking the folder icon in the task bar
  2. Click in the address path in the top of the window (which by default should say 'Computer')
  3. Replace the existing text with \\cgs-vsvr-ps03\ followed by the sticker details of the printer you wish to map

eg: \\cgs-vsvr-ps03\cgs-mfd-09302

The printer should then map itself to your computer without any issues.

If you are prompted for a username and password please enter your username in the format jblog005@campus.goldsmiths.ac.uk and your campus password.

Install local printer

In certain smaller offices local printers still exists. To install a local printer, you will have to contact the IT Service Desk. We will be able to assist you with installing the printer on your computer.

Consumables and toners

Consumables and toners for MFDs must be purchased from the suppliers Ricoh or Canon/OCE by the departments:
