Our Postal loans service request physical items to be delivered to you.

Postal Loans

If you are unable to come to campus and need to consult an entire book or item that cannot be sent using Scan and Send, you can request that the item be delivered to you by post.

Requests may take up to two weeks to process and are limited to five items per person. Some of our physical items may be reference only, unavailable, too large, fragile or valuable to deliver by post.

Step 1 – Check Library Search

Check that the book or AV item is held in print and is available at the Library by using  Library Search 

Step 2 – Postal Loans form

Complete the Postal Loans request form.

Step 3 – Receiving the items

The items will be sent directly to your postal address and may take up to two weeks to arrive. If we are unable to complete your request for any reason we will let you know

Postal Returns

If you are unable to visit campus to return items you have on loan, you can post them back to us free of charge from any UK address.

You will need to provide your own packing materials but the postage costs will be free. We are unable to offer this service outside the UK.

Step 1 – Generate returns labels

Put your email address into the Postal Returns form to generate a printable returns label that will be emailed to you.

Step 2 – Pack up items to return

Pack up any items for return using sturdy packaging and securely tape the returns label to the package

Step 3 – Posting the items

Take the package to any store offering a Collect+ service. You can find your nearest options here. Once the items have been received by the Library we will remove them from your account and waive any attached fines.
