Important information for teachers and sixth formers about the application process
Timeline and important dates
The application process including all the preparatory research and writing is very time-consuming. We have put together a timeline to ensure that your students are on schedule.
It is vital that your students apply before the relevant deadlines. Here are the UCAS deadlines:
- 15 October – application deadline for the receipt at UCAS of applications for all Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Science courses and for all courses at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
- 15 January – application deadline for the receipt at UCAS of applications for all courses (except those listed above with a 15 October deadline) and Art and Design courses with a 24 March deadline.
- 24 March – application deadline for the receipt at UCAS of applications for Art and Design courses (except those listed with a 15 January deadline).
Universities regularly receive considerably more applications than the number of places they have available. To make sure your students have the best opportunity of securing a place at a university of their choice, it's important they have the required qualifications and grades.
The entry requirements for each course are included in the online prospectus information, so please check these carefully. Some courses, such as BA Social Work, require work experience, while others require a portfolio.
There is also specific information for students from the EU or those considered international (non-UK/EU).
