We have a range of exciting activities and events throughout the year to encourage you to explore university life, as well as supporting you through your current studies.

Please note, due to Covid-19 activities could be affected for this scheme.
The scheme runs on a credit system and to complete GPS you’ll work to obtain a number of credits. Each event or activity you attend will be worth a certain number of credits and this will all be set out in the launch packs and at the welcome event.
Explore subject strands
Explore subject strands are the core of GPS. When you apply to the scheme you'll have the opportunity to choose the one that best suits your interests. Whichever strand you choose, you'll have workshops and trips that'll ignite your passion for and deepen your knowledge of your subject.
You can choose a subject that you’re currently studying or get an introduction to a subject that you've never had the opportunity to study before.
If you’re not sure on any of the strands, you can choose ‘Explore Choice’ which gives you the chance to pick a different strand for each activity.
In each Explore strand, you will attend lectures, workshops, and other activities relevant to the subject area. You’ll also have an opportunity to explore what student life is like at university and chat to current students. You’ll also be invited on a trip to central London to show how your subject can fit in with real-life careers and society (COVID-19 restrictions permitting). Previous trips have included the Royal Courts of Justice, Houses of Parliament, and the Design Museum.
Explore strands will be taking place in February and April and will run online.

The welcome event will take place in February 2021 and is your chance to meet other GPS students and discover more about the exciting opportunities that GPS can offer you. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of our current students that will be working with you on the scheme. For 2021 this event will take place online.
GPS Careers Evening
Led by our Careers Team, this is an opportunity to start exploring your future career options.
You'll get professional careers advice, tips on how to boost your CV, information on the UCAS application process and much more. You'll be encouraged to think about how your time at school, college and university can enhance your future career prospects by looking at different case studies and you’ll discover what help university careers services can provide.
We’ll also be inviting past students to come and speak to you about their careers and experiences and different employers to run workshops.
This event will take place in March and will run online.
As the deadline for applying to university approaches, this event is your chance to get crucial information on what universities look for in an application, how to write your personal statement, and tips on interviews, portfolios and auditions.
You’ll be able to get 1-to-1 advice with staff from Goldsmiths to help you prepare the best possible application.
This event will take place in September.
The GPS Summer School is a fun-packed three days at the end of the summer term. Previous summer schools have given students the opportunity to research with current PhD students, get involved with workshops on public speaking, confidence, and debating, and explore their research skills at the British Library.
There are lots more activities that you can get involved with including Degree Shows Days, UCAS Exhibitions, Open Days, and guest lectures. We’ll keep you up to date with everything that’s going on in the GPS newsletter so you’ll never miss an opportunity to get involved.
