Lee Clark
Staff details
I spent over 10 years in frontline social work practice and as a manager before joining the staff team in 2004. I worked in several London Boroughs, specialising in child protection, complex family assessments, parental mental health, and court work. I also spent time working in social care in France. I have a long-standing commitment to Practice Education in social work - recruiting, training and supporting placement supervisors and managers. I remain a Registered Social Worker and I currently practice privately, using my therapeutic qualifications in drama and art with vulnerable children, not least in the area of adoption breakdown.
I have recently been involved in an intergenerational therapeutically-based drama project, with young offenders and isolated older people, using drama to build empathy and mutual understanding. I am regularly commissioned by local authorities, health trusts and court officers to intervene therapeutically with troubled children. In the summer of 2016, I took part in a conference in France about pan-European therapeutic social work.
Teaching
Lee teaches on the BA in Social Work, the MA in Social Work and the MA in Practice Education. On year one of the BA in Social Work, he teaches on the Professional Development for Practice sequence which culminates with an assessment of readiness to practice.
He also delivers workshops to help prepare BA and MA students for their practice placements and organises the placements for students on the BA and MA in Social Work. Additionally, he delivers training and workshops for Practice Educators (qualified social workers in practice) taking students on placement.
