Lesley Morris

Lesley Morris is a state registered Art Psychotherapist. Since graduating from Goldsmiths in 1999, Lesley has primarily worked within clinical and community NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, with special interest in early development art psychotherapy with Looked After Children, families who are homeless, and refugee families. She is currently a visiting tutor on the Art Psychotherapy MA training at Goldsmiths, University of London.

  • PG Cert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

  • Early Childhood Studies: Issues in Child Health.

Professional activities

Lesley's work has been featured at a number of exhibitions, including the SHP's 'Outsiders' event and the Freud Museum's 'Festival of the Unconscious' in 2015 and the 2013 International Art Therapy Conference held at Goldsmiths. She received the TALIC L&T Fellowship award for Art Therapy Large Group Research in 2014 and presented a paper at the ECARTE Conference on the topic of research processes in art therapy large groups.

Her most recent projects include 'Intersubjective discoveries', an intercultural experience between two art therapy training programmes in London and Singapore.

 

Research Interests

Postnatal Depression. An exploration of the usefulness of Art Psychotherapy with new mothers; An exploration of the connection between developmental changes and transient states of aggression in mother-child relationships; Art Psychotherapeutic interventions with Looked After Children; The Art Therapy Large Group (ATLG) as a teaching method for the cultural, institutional and political aspects of therapy training.
