Ethnographic Tales of English Costumes

My project brings together people from different cultures into London’s rich and vibrant traditions. My approach has focused on creating workshops that produce outcomes that are a mixture of people backgrounds and a representation of local traditions from a different perspective.

During the project, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in various integrative activities with many communities and organizations; the project engages non-native Londoners in a process whereby they bring their own cultural influences and artistic flair together in the manipulation of a stereotypical piece of English culture, such as The Pearly King and Queen suit, adding expressions of their own cultural identity. This artistic duality, the typically London form and the migrated one, gives the object a new identity.
