This project started as a exploration of different eating habits, narratives, terms and eccentricities around the dinner-table-culture.

As a core structure the seven deadly sins where applied to an eating context. ‘The sinners’ provided me with a fictional audience for a dinner party. My project took inspiration from the different forms of gluttony and used these observations as an opportunity to craft cutlery to force people into different actions and behaviors. My object’s materialities explore certain aesthetic and cultural taboos, provoking a range of different reactions, from shock to disgust.

The project explores and is influenced by a range of ideas, such as the sociology of taste, an exploration of perception and manipulation of sensation. The widest context for the project is interactive eating, objects that engage in a deeper way, going beyond traditional function to create new user experiences.
