Meet the student community leaders in the Department of Sociology.
Rumena Ali (she/her) undergraduate
“Hi, my name is Rumena. I’m an Undergraduate student in my third year representing the Sociology Department. I chose to study Sociology because I'm curious to know how social interaction between humans can establish a social society. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing and I hate spiders. I like to bring a sense of positivity by supporting others.
I chose to become a Student Community Leader because I have faced challenges in person and online during covid restricted learning. I have general knowledge of how these issues can be solved and believe I have the mindset to bring together a community around an idea or activity. Overall, I consider having the chance to bring people to an in-person event as opposed to an online event as more effective because you have the chance to build rapport and feel engaged in a conversation through various topics being discussed.”
