Donovan is an Academic Developer. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Head of Goldsmiths’ Experiential Route to Higher Education Academy Fellowships. He also manages the TaLIC Teaching Grant scheme and organises and hosts a series of weekly (during term-time) small-group discussion sessions, TaLIC Lunchtime Conversations.
Donovan has 14 years experience as a lecturer and then course leader in media and film studies at the University of West London. He has had an on-going interest in the enhancement of teaching and learning and was seconded to the role of e-learning co-ordinator for the faculty and also served on a number of committees and interest groups in relation to this role.
His current interests are to do with the potential impact of learning analytics on teaching and learning (how these might enhance teaching and learning for students and tutors alike), the pedagogic specificity of disciplinary communities (and how these identities vary across the field of education) and the use of technology to enhance students' critical thinking skills.
