Study Abroad - English Language and Academic Writing

Course overview

These classes give students the opportunity to develop their English language, become familiar with UK academic culture, and explore some of our academic departments and the degree programmes they offer.

They have been designed at an introductory level for students looking for classes with 50% English Language tuition and 50% academic content. The classes take place in the English Language Centre and within our University departments.

CELAW offers a variety of language development, academic literacy and study skills modules. Classes taught within our departments allow you to get a taste of the different disciplinary approaches and degree programmes at Goldsmiths while being supported with English Language tuition.

Classes are offered in both the Autumn Term (September to December) and Spring Term (January to March). Please check the start date of the programme when selecting classes. You will traditionally take four classes each term totally 16 credits. If you would like to stay for two terms, enrol on the Autumn and Spring classes that run from late September through to the end of March.

Students with a score of 5.0 in IELTS (With no individual element less than 4.0) may apply for any of the classes listed below.

You are expected to undertake a full course load for your period of study – see the table below for the credits needed and how many you can earn with each course. For more information, see our advice on how to choose your modules.
