Event overview
An interactive opportunity to explore the future of the media industry, come up with creative ideas and pitch to experts.
“Future Media” is aimed at students and recent graduates interested in media and journalism, the arts, and business innovation, as well as those who simply want a great experience developing their problem solving and team working skills in a media industry context. The aim is to allow students from several different universities to work together to imagine where opportunities in the media industry might be found and how they might achieve success in this space.
Attendees will receive an overview of the media industry noting important changes and technological shifts. Participants will then break out into group activities regularly throughout the Boot Camp, in order to develop a creative new idea to pitch at the end of the day.
We will then be joined by Kirsty Styles (twitter @KirstyStyles1), Head of Talent and Skills, Tech North. Kirsty has worked as a media campaigner for Oxfam and as a freelance journalist for local, national and specialist organisations, including The Observer, RockFM and the Sunday Mirror. Kirsty presents the podcasts "Weekly Economics Podcast" and "Sustainababble".
Teams will pitch their ideas and receive feedback from the panel on how those ideas might be developed further. It promises to be a fun and engaging event and there will be various prizes on offer for teams and individual participants.
