Event overview
The Department of Art Public Talks Programme Spring 2017 welcomes the multi-disciplinary collective Assemble.
Assemble is a multidisciplinary collective working across architecture, design and art. They take a hands on, collaborative approach, and whilst their work usually includes design it rarely starts or ends there, often employing a range of means from the social to the infrastructural to make spaces which enable independence; self-authorship, creativity and difference. In 2015 Assemble were awarded the Turner prize for their ongoing work in 'Granby Four Streets', Liverpool.
Assemble are transforming a series of historic, listed and infrastructural spaces into a new public art gallery for Goldsmiths, a site for an active public conversation around contemporary art practice. The new gallery will be built out of a network of existing spaces within the former Victorian bathhouse at Laurie Grove.
Goldsmiths Gallery is commissioned by Goldsmiths, University of London.
