Event overview
The Centre of the Body's Events Summer 2014 launches with a conversation between the legendary American dancer and founder of Contact Improvisation, Steve Paxton (USA), and Dr Daniel Glaser, neuroscientist.
Dr Daniel Glaser is a neuroscientist, and former Head of Public Engagement at the Wellcome Trust and Director of the new Science Gallery at King's College, London. Daniel has researched mirror neurons with ballet and capoeira dancers.
Steve Paxton's contribution to dance is global and his post-CI research – Material for The Spine – emerging from his deep understanding of the body, is a detailed heuristic examination of the spine in relation to movement.
The summer events programme will continue with a range of talks, dialogues and a workshop on themes spanning disability, subtle body, anatomy theatres and heroin and its influence on culture. Further details will be announced.
The event is free, please book tickets via the link below. Contact centreofthebody@gold.ac.uk for more information.
