Discussion of Lusophone Postcolonialism

22 Feb 2012 - 11 Jul 2012

1001 , 10th floor, Warmington Tower

Event overview

Department Sociology
Contact b.alves(@gold.ac.uk)

Hosted in the Department of Sociology, we are leading a reading/discussion group around Lusophone post colonialism. It can be theory or practice led, so we can, together, analyze critically theories and art/design work made in this context.

Meetings every 2 weeks;
Location: Goldsmiths, WT, room 1001 (10th floor)
Time: 2-4pm

Background
We are still in the process of creating the group, so please contact us if you are interested but you cannot make it Wednesdays afternoon.
The group has participants with very different backgrounds (politics, history, anthropology, computing, design, sociology and cultural studies, for the moment!!) I think we can all contribute with different inputs and see what comes out of here. It would be interesting to have participants from other institutions outside Goldsmiths – all welcome!!
We are also considering to invite people to talk in this space... we can share our own writing and get critical feedback...

Main aims:
– Re-think and apply post-colonial theories to/from Lusophone contexts;
– Analyse post-colonial lusophone work (theory/practice);
– Share resources (theory, cfp, ...).

Next meeting: 22nd February 2012

Please contact to register:
