Musicians, poets, and artists will perform as part of a three-week festival

Musicians, poets and artists will be among those performing as part of a two-week festival organised by Artmongers and Goldsmiths.

The NEW-X-ING Performance Relay will see performances take place on a purpose-built stage outside the Library at Goldsmiths, New Cross, over a two week period from Friday 21 September to Saturday 6 October.

The collaborative effort involves Goldsmiths students, local residents and organisations, Trinity Laban, Midi Music and The Albany amongst others.

The event will be opened by Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham at 7.30pm on Friday 21 September. Rap duo 'Too many T's' will open proceedings followed by Deptford duo 'RABBIT'.

Saturday (22 September) is a day dedicated to families, with an array of children's music, including Sunbeam, The Otherside and Katy and the Elders (2-6pm). In the evening, a variety of documentary films and animations by Goldsmiths students will be projected outside the Library from 7.30-10pm.

Other highlights include:
- BLUEGRASS day organised by the New Cross Federation - Chris Boddington, on Sunday 23 September (2-8pm)
- YOUNGATHON organised in collaboration with CEN8 on Thursday 27 September (7-9pm)
- Experimental music and sound bending organised by GLUE ROOMS - Goldsmiths' alumnus Mick Shaw.
- DANCE day on Saturday 29 September will feature two choreographers graduated from Trinity Laban - Anne Gaelle Thiriot and Maciej Kuzminski - who will be creating two new site-specific pieces, using the urban conditions of sound pollution and motorist tyranny as starting points (2- 7pm).
