Mobility difficulties

Mobility Difficulties can raise concerns for many students when they arrive at University.  Goldsmiths Access Guide gives students detailed accessibility information about Goldsmiths.

We would always recommend that you visit Goldsmiths before you enroll on a course, just to get a better idea of how the university will be for you.

If you have a mobility difficulty you should come to a disability drop in session to see a member of the Disability Team. We will discuss your support needs with you and if appropriate, help you apply for Disabled Students Allowance.

When you come to a drop in session please make sure you have a letter you’re your GP or other health professional confirming your mobility difficulties. If you don’t have evidence you will need to ask your GP or other health professional to write a letter for you. Please see Medical Evidence for a guide on how they can write this evidence for you.

Examples of support from the Disability Team:

  • Organising personal support workers / library support workers
  • Arrange parking at the campus
  • Help with applying for Disabled Students Allowance
  • Making reasonable adjustments for exams
  • Provide information and advice in confidence
  • Liaise with your department on your behalf if you have any course related concerns (with your permission)

All discussions are in confidence and information will not be disclosed without your agreement.

Students are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible to discuss their support needs as it may take some time to put support in place.
