Sports Club

Description

This student was elected by its members as President of a sports club to oversee the running of all subsequent sport teams. They coordinated sports team meetings and attended Union meetings to represent the needs of those teams.

Criteria

A President of a Sports Club will only exist if a sports club has multiple teams i.e. 1st team, 2nd team, 3rd team and so on. To gain recognition on your HEAR, you must have

  • Been elected according to the Students' Union guidelines
  • Served a full term in office
  • Ensured the continuity of the sports clubs
  • Attended all required meetings
  • Ensured that no more than two walkovers occurred

Description

The Sports Ambassador works in collaboration with their respective National Governing Body, committee members of their club and Goldsmiths Sports Coordinator to plan and deliver events and campaigns that focus on engaging the wider student body in recreational sport. They gain skills in communication, project and event management, report writing and marketing.

Criteria

  • Attend National Governing Body (NGB) Student training Maintain a record and register of activities/events
  • Meet with SU staff to discuss progress
  • Have a full or social membership of their club
  • Submit termly evaluation reports
  • Attend monthly captains/ambassador meetings
  • Attend at least 1 SU on tour/ Open Day / Freshers Fayre

Description

 

This student was elected or appointed by its members as Social Secretary of a sports club to oversee all social activities associated with the club. They organised all relevant aspects of events and trips and ensured that these were inclusive activities. They ensured all necessary collections and expenditures were correctly handled and kept a record of all financial transactions using Microsoft Excel. They developed skills in financial planning through managing a budget and allocating funds.

Description

The Talented Athlete programme supports the development of dedicated and ambitious athletes who have excelled at their sport at national level and been endorsed by their coach or National Governing Body. In addition to competing, they volunteer at events and undertake promotional activities. They develop skills including self-discipline, time management, goal setting and interpersonal skills.

Criteria

  • Attend regular Captains forum
  • Keep a termly blog of updates of your activities
  • Inform Students’ Union of upcoming tournaments/competitions
  • Participate in all open days as a volunteer to speak with prospective students
  • Volunteer at Varsity
  • Report to the Sports Development Coordinator fortnightly
  • Attend at least 1 SU on tour or Freshers day (speaking to prospective students about what you do, how to get involved in sports. At Freshers - be on a stall during the fair to promote the programme)
  • Create a profile on the SU website.

Societies

Description

This student was elected as President of a society by its members, to organise its running and act as the main representative to the Union.

Description

This student was elected or appointed by its members and was responsible for the conceptualisation, teaching and supervision of the dances included in show production.
This role includes developing knowledge of a range of dancing styles and genres as well as visualising the way movement will utilise and transform the performance space.

Description

This student was elected or appointed by its members and was responsible for directing all productions. The director oversees all stage productions by managing the various parts of the production team and making key decisions about how the production should look and feel. This role required time management, communication and creativity.

Description

An Editor’s role is to oversee and manage a team working collaboratively on any kind of publication or related media, including working with contributors and editorial boards who read and review work for publication. They also make decisions about how the publication should be presented or distributed and communicate with potential sponsors or commercial collaborators.

Criteria

Students may use a planning document (provided by the Students’ Union) to mark their progress by completing the requirements for the HEAR criteria. This progress is documented in 121s with the Societies Coordinator.

Designer 

Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate students in a variety of mediums. This may include social media graphics and visual campaigns, paper advertising and materials for Welcome Week.

Criteria

Students may use a planning document (provided by the Students’ Union) to mark their progress by completing the requirements for the HEAR criteria. This progress is documented in 121s with the Societies Coordinator.

Description

This student was elected or appointed by its members and is responsible for the direction of all musical elements within the performances. This includes choosing and arranging the music, working with the director to plan the rehearsal schedule, supporting the ensemble in learning the music and leading the music during performances.

The stage manager maintains the dual function of assistant to the director and production staff during the rehearsal period before taking charge of the production during final performances.
