Event overview
In the first of our Queens of Tech talks, Dr Kate Devlin gives a lively overview of her career in Computer Science, and her current research on sexual companion robots.
Dr Kate Devlin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Her research focuses on how we can apply knowledge of visual perception and cognition to areas such as human-computer interaction and Artificial Intelligence to assess how people interact with, and react to, technology.
Her current research is focused on cognition, sex, gender and sexuality and how these might be incorporated into cognitive systems such as sexual companion robots.
She has a background in both archaeology and computer science and has combined these with applied perception, focusing on digital cultural heritage.
Kate is an active campaigner for mental health awareness and also for raising the profile of women in computing.
