Centre for Feminist Research

Mojisola Adebayo is an international theatre artist and Lecturer in Theatre and Performance at Goldsmiths. Her critically acclaimed play Muhammad Ali and Me is playing at Albany Theatre, Deptford, in association with Goldsmiths TaP, from October 6-15th before touring boxing clubs around the country during Black History Month.

Muhammad Ali and Me is a coming-of-age-story about a black gay girl child growing up in foster care in London during the 1970s and her fantastical friendship with the legendary boxing icon, Muhammad Ali.

Mojisola will discuss the process of writing auto/biographical plays, creating accessible theatre with British Sign Language, audio-description and multi-media creativity and making connections between queer, black, Islamic, D/deaf and disabled identities, through performance.

She will also give an insight into the new work she is currently creating, all about female space travel, FGM and the feminist pleasure quest for orgasm.

There will be an opportunity to purchase reduced price tickets to see the full stage production of Muhammad Ali and Me at the Albany directly after the talk on October 13th, exclusively for people attending this event.
