Talk and masterclass by renowned Sword Dance Professor from Beijing Dance Academy, Zhang Jun
Join this free talk by renowned Sword dance professor on the styles, techniques and history of Chinese Sword Dance.
Chinese Sword dance is distinguishable from the form of ‘fighting’ in martial arts fencing, the ‘Dance practice’ in exercise activities and the ‘Dancing with Swords’ in Asian dramatic acting, the ‘Sword Dance’ is contemporarily created on the basis of inheriting and absorbing the essence of traditional culture, selectively and purposely refining the content that can create the best combination with dance as well as the aesthetic culture in accordance with its historical tradition.
Professor Jun is a professor of Beijing Dance Academy. He is a member of Chinese Dancers Association, Beijing Dancers Association and Chinese Martial Arts Association.
He currently teaches on the undergraduate and graduate course teaching of dance training in sword dance, body rhythm, teaching methodology and study on the sword dance, among others.
Jun will be coming from China and will deliver his Masterclass and Talk.
All are welcome.
After the talk there will be a Masterclass afterwards for those who would like to participate in a taster class in Chinese Sword Dance.
