An event to celebrate Black History Month by exploring Black History resources in Special Collections & Archives and the Goldsmiths Textile Collection
Explore our collections and join the discussion. How are archives collected and what does that mean for the study of the past? For the future?
Some of the collections we’ll examine are:
Goldsmiths Textile Collection of global textile art and dress
Women’s Art Library, including the Women of Colour Index (WOCI)
Future Histories Archive of Black theatre and performing arts
The Kenneth Gourlay Archive (musicologist working in Central and West Africa)
Deac Rossell Collection of film history (with strengths in Black and African filmmaking)
Women’s Revolutions Per Minute (WRPM) Archive, a feminist music distribution business
London International Festival of Theatre Archive
Two venues:
3:15-4:00 pm Constance Howard Gallery/Goldsmiths Textile Collection (DTHB basement)
4:15-5:00 pm Special Collections & Archives (Library ground floor)
