Barcelona-based performer, composer and improviser Luis Tabuenca will perform an evening concert of works for solo percussion and electronics.

The Contemporary Music Research Unit presents an evening concert, featuring mostly of UK premieres and will include a performance of 'Nausea', a new work by Panos Ghikas composed especially for Luis Tabuenca.

As an international solo percussionist, he has toured in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, performing in festivals like the Münstersommer Summer Festival (Freiburg, Germany), Transplanted Roots (Montreal, Canadá), the International Performance Festival (Bogotá, Colombia), and the Monday Evening Concerts (Lons Ángeles, USA).

Luis Tabuenca’s compositions explore the borderlines between improvised and composed music. Luis's music have been described as “intricate and involving, beautifully and immaculately sequenced.” (thewire.co.uk).

Luis has recorded for Aural Terrains, Mode Records, Sinkro Records, Verso and Naucleshg. He has been honoured in several competitions and he has received awards by the Government of Aragón, the Ministry of Culture of Spain, and the Fulbright Commission.

Luis Tabuenca is founder and Artistic Director of the International Experimental Music Festival (FAT) in Burgos, Spain.
