We welcome back internationally renowned ensemble-in-residence The Kreutzer Quartet to give this evening's concert.

The Kreutzer Quartet are the resident ensemble for Goldsmiths Composition Department, and each year take great delight in exploring the new spectacular new work emerging from this community. This internationally acclaimed quartet is made up of four dynamic soloists and a composer, from the USA, Australia, Macedonia and the UK. They are the dedicatees of hundreds of new works, and have collaborated with many of the great composers. This concert brings together extraordinary works from the past: Mozart explores a great Bach fugue, and Shostakovich pushes the quartet to the brink, with the viola at greatest risk! Alongside these extraordinary works by three of our great living composers, Douglas Young, Edward Cowie and Michael Finnissy.
The Kreutzer Quartet are:
Peter Sheppard Skærved
Mihailo Trandafilovski
Clifton Harrison
Neil Heyde

Programme:
Mozart/Bach: E Major Fugue K405
Michael Finnissy: Mad Men in the Sand
Edward Cowie: Particle Partita
Douglas Young: Mr Klee visits the Botanical Gardens
Dmitri Shostakovich: 13th Quartet

The venue is on New Cross Road, (nearly) opposite New Cross Gate train station, London SE14 6AF
