The Goldsmiths Writers' Centre presents 'The Final Step: from MA to Published Author'

What happens once the support, tutorials and structure of the Creative & Life Writing MA are gone? How do you keep up the momentum – and, crucially, your own belief in your writing project?

Novelist Lisa Owens will discuss how she managed to avoid writer’s block, procrastination and self-doubt when her MA was over ? while Marina Kemp, co-founder of Ink Academy, will share the advice she gives the writers she encounters who are struggling to believe in their work, finish their manuscript, find an agent and get published.

Lisa Owens completed the UEA MA in Creative Writing in 2013. In April 2016, her debut novel Not Working was published. Before her MA, she worked as an editor for Profile Books.

Marina Kemp completed the Goldsmiths MA in Creative Writing in 2015. Since then, building on her editorial experience at Penguin Random House, she has worked with numerous aspiring writers to get their manuscripts finished and published. Her company, Ink Academy, offers bespoke one-to-one writing guidance to help people write their best possible book. (See http://www.inkacademy.co.uk for further details.)

“As insightful about the contemporary dilemmas facing young professionals as it is sharp, incisive and laugh-out-loud funny.” The Observer
