A day of experiential sessions

Kris Black is a UKCP Registered Integrative Arts Psychotherapist, MBACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist , a Supervisor, on the leadership group of BAATN as well as the founder of Radical Dialogues ~ a group work and awareness programme combining art and psychotherapy to address and heal trauma caused by discrimination, violence and abuse.

Kris believes the personal is political, and has contributed to many radical black, women's, and LGBTQ groups and campaigns at a grassroots level and upwards for most of her working life. Having studied law, she has worked within grassroots, national and international campaigns which have changed or ended discriminatory legislation, attitudes and practices. Kris still describes herself as a feminist and does not think politics, activism, or campaigning to end inequality in society are counter~intuitive to being a professional psychotherapist or counsellor. arctherapy@aol.com

Sissy Lykou MA; P.G.Cert. is registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy and the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy in the UK. She lives and practices in London privately and in community psychotherapy projects for children under five years of age and their parents/carers. She lectures on several university and professional training programmes in the UK and Europe, has worked on EU research projects at the Universities of Heidelberg and Athens, has published in books and journals, is on the editorial boards of international journals, and was member of the Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility steering committee. Sissy is the community co-ordinator for Stillpoint Spaces London.www.lykoucounselling.co.uk london@stillpointspaces.com

Cultural Awareness Project - a series of lectures and activities

This student-led initiative is supported by Goldsmiths Annual Fund.
It aims to create an intercultural space to enhance cultural awareness and stimulate debate through a series of workshops, seminars and discussions. Trainee art psychotherapists within the STaCS Department are committed to principles that respect cultural diversity and actively challenge discriminatory assumptions, stereotypes, and interpretations; these sessions strive to contextualise the impact of diversity, without shame and foster future self-reflective practices to deepen understanding of the wider socio-political influences for marginalised communities. These opportunities are focused for trainee art psychotherapists but are also open to interested Goldsmiths students.
