Event overview
Murari Vasudevan, alumnus of the Goldsmiths Msc CGE, now working at Future Games Of London (part of Ubisoft), will give us a Tour d'Horizon of VR in games today.
My talk will mainly focus on the various challenges and opportunities in VR, and how to approach developing for it. What should we as developers keep in mind, what makes the platform unique and how best to use it. I’ll also go over a few common pitfalls I’ve experienced, and some best practices.
While this is the main subject of the talk, I will also try any questions students might have on working in the industry, and what it was like to go from academia to the industry.
Bio
I’m Murari Vasudevan, alumnus of the Goldsmiths Msc CGE.
I’m Lead Programmer at Future Games Of London, (now part of Ubisoft), known for its immensely successful mobile franchise Hungry Shark, the most recent game of which, Hungry Shark World, was the third most downloaded game on iOS in the first half of 2016, achieving 10 million downloads in the first 2 weeks of its launch.
I’m currently working on "Hungry Shark" as a mobile VR title for the Google Daydream platform, due to hit the store around late April / early May.
I’m also an avid indie game dev, having developed and released Mirror Man, a retro-style runner in 2 simultaneous worlds, on iOS and Android, and currently experimenting in the mobile VR space.
