Open Lecture by the ICCE alumna and new Director of Chile's new National Centre for Contemporary Arts

Beatriz Salinas Marambio (Chile), Curator and Visual Art manager.

Beatriz presents her research exploring the relation between mobility and cultural diplomacy strategies through the specific cases of contemporary art residencies programs from government of Australia and Sweden, and one non-governmental program based in the UK. Analysing key documents and data, and gathering information from organizations and several artists, the author found comparative points in terms of governance and purpose that give an insight into the macro context of cultural policy where these programs operate. Having found these points, the author takes a critical approach in terms of the narrative of mobility and representation in the current globalized context, the impact that these initiatives have in the production of contemporary art, and the scope of cultural diplomacy strategies working with contemporary art residencies programs.

This presentation is supported by AMA Foundation (Chile) and private donations.
