Following on from their composition workshops during the day, The Kreutzer Quartet give this free evening concert, including two world premieres.

The Kreutzer Quartet revels in collaboration, whether it be with composers or the friends who join them in extending the quartet. Tonight's concert is composed entirely of works dedicated to them. The quartet has worked with the Icelandic composer Hafliði Hallgrímsson for many years; 7 Epigrams is a series of vignettes of Russian authors and composers, scored for violin and cello. Australian Rosalind Page's new work for the quartet, inspired by her love for the Iceland, where she spends considerable time. David Matthews' newest quartet also has roots in nature, from sunrise to bird song, reflecting his love of the outdoors. The are two new works for clarinet quintet are the latest fruits of Linda Merrick's collaboration with the Kreutzers, which earlier resulted in the late John McCabe's 'La Donna' for quintet. Paul Pellay dramatic, elegaic quintet is the latest in a large body of work written for the members of the Quartet. Michael Finnissy's 'Liederkreis' is a series of song-like movements, full of lyricsim and colour.

Programme:
Rosalind Page - Infinite Distances (A transformation for String Quartet) World Premiere
David Matthews - Quartet No. 14 (World Premiere)
Michael Finnissy. - Clarinet Liederkreis (London Premiere)*
Paul Pellay - ....void-scattered distances (London Premiere)*
Hafliði Hallgrímsson - 7 Epigrams
