Mobile technology: learning behaviour, social networking and knowledge construction levels. By Associate Professor Zhong Sun, Capital Normal University, Beijing.

With the rapid development of MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and mobile learning, blended learning on campus has been the focus of educational reform in China in recent times. Today, university students are skilled at utilising informational and mobile technology to interact and communicate with the world around them. There is no reason for academic courses to ignore or reject this shift in students' digital adeptness. However, what are the features of students’ learning and performance in blended academic courses on campus?

This lecture will introduce Associate Professor Zhong Sun’s research from over the past two years by combining and comparing mobile instant messaging channels, such as China's most popular mobile messaging application, WeChat, and the Moodle discussion board for collaborative learning from the perspectives of learning behaviour, social networking and knowledge construction levels.

Please note that we recommend downloading the free mobile application, WeChat, in preparation for this lecture.
