Distinguished Professor Wei Wang from Beijing Dance Academy will be our guest to unveil the mysterious Shen Yun and the art of Chinese Classical Dance
Does Chinese Classical Dance belong to a kind of Chinese Ballet or Chinese Contemporary Dance? What are the inner cultural connotations? Professor Wei Wang, the distinguished Chinese Classical Dance professor from Beijing Dance Academy, will be our guest to unveil the mysterious Shen Yun and the art of Chinese Classical Dance on 12th October.
Firstly, Professor Wei Wang will deliver a lecture on Shen Yun and discuss its relevance in Chinese Classical Dance and Chinese traditional culture. This lecture will also discuss the philosophy and cultural significance of Chinese Classical dance. Professor Wei Wang will then host a master class in Shen Yun in which you can learn the essential, basic movements of Chinese Classical Dance. This is a rare opportunity to learn more about Chinese Classical Dance and Chinese traditional culture.
Shen Yun is from the Chinese Classical Dance teaching system and is a philosophy which aims to construct a system of movements that meet the needs of dance through movement patterns, aesthetic principles and movement styles. It is based on the dynamic elements extracted from Chinese Opera and Martial Arts, as well as following the guidance of Chinese traditional cultural aesthetic patterns and characteristics. This includes Bare Hand, Sleeves Dance, Sword Dance, and Fan Dance. Every movement is based on Confucian culture - pursuing Yin-Yang, meridian, harmoniousness, smoothness, elegance and tenacity - in which the spirit and the prose of Chinese Traditional Culture is embodied.
