Monday night talks arranged by the new Events and Experience Management MA at ICCE.

In the world of events, not only do brands increasingly have a role to play in creating and delivering cultural experiences but they are seen as an expected and essential component without which, such events could struggle to exist.

Events and experiences have for a long time been closely linked to culture and creative communities and brands have been quick to recognise the opportunity to connect and emotionally engage with people through their passion points, whether that be music, fashion, art, design, film ...

So how did brand experiences first arise, how have they evolved over time and what impact will they continue to have on culture today and tomorrow?

Andy Dougan is Head of Experiences at Geometry Global, the world's largest brand activation agency. His twenty year career in marketing communications began in 1996 when he realised that being a member of a touring rock band was likely to be a short-lived career and was drawn towards the creative nature of the agency world.

Since then he has focused on creating and delivering events and experiences for some of the world’s leading brands including: BMW Group, Jumeirah, Emirates Airlines, PepsiCo and Microsoft.

In June 2016, he returned to join Geometry Global UK, flagship agency of WPP’s global brand activation network, as Head of Experiences and part of the UK management team.

Prior to Geometry, Andy led ENERGY to become one of the UK’s top performing events & brand experience agencies building business growth for brands including TJX Europe, Avis and Rolls Royce Motor Cars.

A seasoned events practitioner, Andy is passionate about the role and value brands can play in an ever increasingly experience led, digitally enabled world.
