Event overview
Fans and Fan Cultures: Tourism, Consumerism and Social Media.
We would like to invite you to join us in celebrating our book, Fans and Fan Cultures (published earlier this year by Palgrave Macmillan), at Goldsmiths on the 28th of November.
In addition to us presenting the book, there will be a welcome talk by Gerald Lidstone (ICCE, Goldsmith) and talks by Professor Richard Howells (CMCI, King's College) and Professor John Gold (Oxford Brookes).
We would also like to ask you a favour: Since this is a event about fandom, we would love to see your fan memorabilia! Do you have a signed Kylie poster that used to be in your teenage bedroom? A piece of Morrissey's house that you have hacked off? A fan photo with Terry Wogan? A worn out VHS with the highlights of Mexico '86? Tickets for a Little Mix gig? A royal souvenir coffee mug? We would love to see it! Please bring your best (or worst) fan memorabilia and we will arrange a little impro exhibition. If you like, please bring a display label where you share your memories.
There will, of course, be wine and nibbles.
Looking forward to seeing you all for a lovely evening of fandom fun!
/Sara Linden (Goldsmiths) & Henrik Linden (University of East London)
