Event overview
Just as computers were quickly used as musical tools in their early days of invention, audio and music has been used in even the earliest work with electronic textiles.
This seminar will look at the history of e-textiles used to control, transport, and generate audio, along with current developments in using textiles within creative computing.
Becky Stewart is a lecturer in the School of Electronic Engineering & Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London. She is also a co-founder of Codasign, a creative technology education company that runs workshops teaching kids and adults how to use technology to develop creative projects.
Becky works with e-textiles and signal processing to build interactive, body-centric wearable computing systems. These systems often incorporate performance, fashion, music and/or design.
