This talk traces a few histories of trans masculine lives that appear and disappear across various archives. Some of these lives flicker in and out of visibility, some in and out of criminality and still more remain enigmatically illegible.
The talk argues for new visual methodologies for navigating archives of the lost, the found and the hidden.

Jack Halberstam is Professor of English and Gender Studies at Columbia University. Halberstam is the author of six books including The Queer Art of Failure and most recently Trans*: A Quick and Quirky Guide to Gender Variability. Halberstam is working now on a book titled Wild Things: Queer Theory After Nature.
