‘Cities of Light Paris’ is a one-day symposium at the University of Paris V (Sorbonne), followed by two days of guided walks and workshops in Paris.

The symposium and workshops will explore the city, highlighting visual culture, social history, geography, politics and learning. In addition, urban photographic techniques, story telling and artistic practice will be presented and investigated through workshops focusing on urban life and ‘light’ in the built environment. The symposium and workshops will be of special interest to researchers, photographers, postgraduates, artists and all those interested in dialogue and debate around urban issues.

Speakers and contributors include: Theresa Mikuriya (University of West London), Anna-Louise Milne (University of London Institute in Paris), David Kendall, Abbas Nokhasteh and Moustafa Traoré (Goldsmiths, University of London & OpenVizor), Sandrine Ferret (University of Rennes 2), Adel Tincelin (artist), Paul Halliday (Goldsmiths, University of London & Urban Photographers Association), Peter Coles (Goldsmiths, University of London & Urban Photographers Association), Carolina Sanchez Boe (University of Paris V, Sorbonne), Anne Zeitz (University of Rennes 2) and Peter Bennett (University of West London).

Cities of Light Paris is organised by the Urban Photographers Association (UPA), CUCR, Goldsmiths, University of London, the University of Paris V, University of Rennes 2 and Openvizor, with additional participation of the University of West London and the University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP).

‘Cities of Light’ is a series of symposia organised by the Urban Photographers Association (UPA) taking place in European cities in 2018. See http://www.urbanphotographers.org
