It’s a tradition at Goldsmiths that all students in the Department begin the year with a week of intensive performance based activities that culminate in public performances.

This late afternoon and evening mini-festival features students on the BMus Music and BMus Popular Music programmes. Join us from 5.30pm in the Great Hall before the performances kick-off at 6pm.

Students on the BMus Music will perform the Errollyn Wallen Cello Concerto, with Matt Sharp as soloist, excerpts from Mendelssohn's 'Elijah', Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto (with final year BMus Music student Ed Cross, soloist) and celebrating Bernstein @ 100 years, with his 'Candide' Overture. The Jazz Ensemble will perform 'Bernie's Tune', '9.20 Special' and Maria Schneider's 'My Lament' and the Goldsmiths Keyboard Collective will perform a new work by BMus final year student George Shrapnell plus other works for multi-keyboards.

There will also be a special performance of 'E-Goli', by Emeritus Professor and former Head of Department, Stanley Glasser, who passed away in August.

All directed by Sarah Latto, Chris George, Paul Bartholomew and Andrew Zolinsky.

Students on the BMus Popular Music programme will have their performance of new devised works following the Sinfonia, Chorus, Jazz Band and Keyboard Collective event from 7.30pm on our bespoke festival stage. 1st and 2nd year students will perform on the front entrance steps outside the main building on the festival stage, with creative stimulus provided by Rose Dagul, Joe Newman and Simon Deacon, whilst 3rd year performances involve installations and multimedia works created in our state-of-the-art recording studio, with live events at 310 NXRD during the week, working with John Harries and Mikko Gordon.

Tickets cost £8 / £5 / £3 (Goldsmiths students and alumni) and free to Goldsmiths music department students.
