This display curated by Nina Hoechtl and Rían Lozano introduces the unique practice of Gloria Anzaldúa (1942-2004).
The Women's Art Library is pleased to present A Gloria Anzaldúa Thought Gallery, installed in Special Collections and Archives as a series of images and audio recordings of Anzaldúa speaking in the 1990s.
Gloria Anzaldúa described herself as a “Chicana, tejana, working-class, dyke-feminist poet, writer-theorist”. She gave workshops and lecture “gigs” across the United States of America and as she engaged with her audiences she would draw on transparencies producing drawings, notes, and diagrams that are now part of the Benson Latin American Collection/University of Texas Libraries. These drawings were central to her teaching and writing. The Library has purchased four key publications and the exhibition will form the basis of an archive in the Women’s Art Library collection.
