Deptford X Fringe comes to Special Collections with Jennings' archive collection point rethinking how urban consumer life diminishes community and green spaces.
Margaret Jennings (BFA Goldsmiths 2018) has installed a 'live archiving' collection point and textile art installation to highlight human core DNA similarities with nature and link urgent issues of climate change and urban consumer life to diminishing community and green spaces. This display is part of her expanded social practice of active care of local environment. She has been collecting tree stories for over 3 years and visitors are welcome to share personal shared their tree 'stories'/expressions to add to the collection to be shared, displayed and archived for future researchers. This exhibition is hosted by the Women's Art Library and coincides with a display of Gloria Anzaldua's Thought Gallery in Special Collections. Jennings' installation is split across two sites and includes work in New Cross Learning titled: "Interactive Plastic Waste Energy Experience and Soundscape with Eco Graffiti Sums to decipher in Toilet" (Sat & Tue - Thurs 12:00 - 16.00 including a video screening 'Flow Research: Life Findings Greenwalk': 14:00 - 14:15)
