Transversalities & Expanded Clinical Practice: artwork as dispositif in Cuide-se. A seminar with Prof. CRISTIANE MESQUITA

How do we build devices for the expanded clinic beyond traditional psychoanalytic practice? How can we use artworks and philosophies of difference to compose cartographies of care and collective processes of subjectivation? This talk will explore these questions through the figure of Jardelina da Silva, who sewed and performed real and imagined scenarios in the small city of Bela Vista do Paraíso, keeping herself away from medicine and hospitals for 15 years; and through Cuide-se: a project in a public clinic (Sedes Sapientiae Institute) in Sao Paulo, which proposes a set of parallel activities that address the body and its appearance. This research triggers questions about the body, contemporary symptoms, clinical tools, mental health and ways of living that can construct new existential territories.

Prof. CRISTIANE MESQUITA (Anhembi Morumbi University, Sao Paulo) and Visiting Researcher Department of Art, Goldsmiths. Hosted by Micropolitics Research Group.
