For Crazy Queer Asian's launch event this Friday, we will be screening Extravaganza, a 45-minute documentary that takes a refreshing look at the exciting drag scene in Shanghai.

'Crazy Queer Asians' is a film screening + discussion series championing East-Asian LGBTQ screen representation based at Goldsmiths, University of London. We host screening events monthly, each time centering around a theme that is highly relevant to East-Asian queer identities and expressions.

For our launch event his coming Friday, we be screening Extravaganza, a 45-minute documentary that takes a refreshing look at the expanding drag community and glitzy drag performances in Shanghai. For the Q&A session, We will joined by Whiskey Chow, an artist and drag king performer based in London, whose work explores female masculinity, stereotypes and cultural projections of Chinese/Asian identity with interdisciplinary performance (http://www.whiskeychow.com); and Matthew Baren, the director of the film, who is a queer activist, filmmaker, and the co-founder of underground queer film collective CINEMQ (http://www.cinemq.com).
