Sound Practice Research (SPR) presents 'In a Queer Time and Place' by Sherry Ostapovitch who will introduce and discuss her work in the Electronic Music Studios.

In a Queer Time and Space is the collective sonic embodiment of communities; individuals; and the work’s composer. It is also an embodiment for the listener, who participates in this queer space by entering the sites of recording through the work’s playback in ambisonic technology, offering a 360° 3D sound experience. Recordings were made in London and during a sound arts residency for women and LGBTQI at cement factory, now art centre, in East Germany.

Sherry Ostapovitch is a sound artist and PhD candidate in Music Education at the University of Toronto in Canada. Her previous work includes composing a site-specific work in London Fields for Kaffe Matthews’ sonic bicycles, involving speakers, a raspberry Pi, and GPS system. In 2014 she was awarded a distinction for her Masters in Music from Goldsmiths University in Studio Composition (Sonic Arts).

Free event, all welcome
