Event overview
We are pleased to announce that this workshop has now been rescheduled for Friday 8th November 1-3.30 pm.
Thank you for your patience on the necessary postponement of this event due to the recent BME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) student-led occupation of Deptford Town Hall by Goldsmiths Anti-Racist Action.
This session will be led by Tiya Dahyabhai.
We will be looking at a variety of cords featured amongst a selection of objects from the Goldsmiths Textile Collection. Various techniques will be explored through discussing their cultural and historical significance.
Talking Textiles will be followed by a practical workshop (limited to 16 places). Tiya will be helping participants make cord using Kumihimo disks, braiding stars and circular weaving cards.
Talking Textiles: (Constance Howard Gallery)
No booking necessary
Workshop: (DTH B9)
The workshop is free but booking is essential. Activities in the workshop will relate to the discussion during Talking Textiles, so please attend this too. Materials will be provided.
