Long time political activist and academic Keir Milburn visits Goldsmiths

Increasingly age, not class, appears to be the most prominent dividing line in politics. Young people across the globe are embracing left-wing ideas, supporting figures such as Corbyn and Sanders. Why is this happening? Where has this ‘Generation Left’ come from, where is it going, and how can it change the world?

In conversation with Goldsmiths student activists and a representative from Plan C, Keir Milburn traces the story of Generation Left from the financial crash of 2008, through the expansion of new political possibilities in the explosive movements of 2011. Entering the electoral arena, Generation Left has found itself vying for dominance with aging voters who are turning to the right and a ‘Third Way’ political elite unable to accept their world has gone.
