Desire Lines in Croydon
Join us on this walking event to explore the impact of infrastructure on the urban landscape. This month we will be led by Sara Wall and Jon Vidler (residents of Zone 5, Greater London) on an exploration of Desire Lines in Croydon. We will meet on Wednesday 10th April at 10.30am at West Croydon station (the exit from the Overground) and base our exploration around the south London tram routes.
The Exploration will mix taking the tram and walking on pavements so please bring an Oyster Card or Travel Card and wear weather-appropriate clothing. If you have any accessibility requirements, please get in contact.
Sara and Jon have suggested that in preparation we read this article on defensive architecture:
Smith, N. and Walters, P. (2018) 'Desire lines and defensive architecture in modern urban environments', Urban Studies 55:13, 2980-2995.
And that we watch this short YouTube video for some history of the tram:

Please let us know if you have any questions.
