We have Dared to Be Free

Brother Mario Gousse, himself born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Ayiti, is in the process of founding the Jean Jacques Dessalines Imperial Institute in Ayiti, a multi-campus Life-Long Learning Institution. Living in the US some 21 years, he has attended Columbia University and is a graduate of CUNY’s City College, in Harlem, New York, where he majored in Black Studies, under the mentorship of Drs Jeffries, Clarke, Scobie, Small, McIntyre, Price, Yarborough, Manigat, among others. Bro Mario teaches secondary science in the UK.

This year’s lecture examines the phrase, “We have dared to be free”, taken from Ayiti’s 1804 Declaration of Independence, in its own context and briefly explores its significance to Afrikan existence today.
