Hosted by the Contemporary Music Research Unit, Visiting Research Fellow and violinist Peter Sheppard Skærved presents Caprice 1 "Facing our pasts/facing our futures"

Tonight's event is the first of two salon evening hosted in Deptford Town Hall, with guest composers David Gorton & Paul Pellay.

Music to include:
Roger Redgate - 2 Caprices
David Gorton – Caprices
Paul Pellay – Anacre-antic Variations
Peter Sheppard Skærved – Plaintes
Michael Hersch - …in the snowy margins…

How do composers deal with the past? Peter Sheppard Skærved plays works dedicated to him by four of his long term collaborators, and leads a discussion about the ways that composers work with their material, be it an 18th century drinking song, or a Dowland lute song. Framed by two of Roger Redgates’ caprices, which lie at the heart of Peter’s work as visiting research fellow for the CMRU.

Free event, open to all.
