Music Research Series

Black Pentecostal churches are known for their production of high quality, up-tempo music, demonstrated by the Kingdom Choir at the royal wedding of Harry and Meghan.

However, there is a paucity of systematic analysis of music in these UK environments.

Using Nattiez's model of music discourse, this presentation will explore some of the commonalities, complexities and contradictions inherent to this musical practice.
