Assassination, political violence, Indian colonial history, Partition of India and Dr Who.

Noted actor, Leena Dhingra, who has appeared in many films and TV shows, will be talking about how her family has been impacted by historical traumas. These include the devastating effect that the Partition of India had upon her parents and herself, as well as and having a great uncle who was executed by the British in 1909 for assassinating a British Official in his fight for an independent India.

Recently, she appeared in an episode of the sci-fi show ‘Dr Who’ which featured the Doctor time-travelling to the era of Indian Partition; this story brought back many memories and shared the themes of the book she is currently writing about her family. Leena is a wonderful story-teller; funny, warm, and magnetic. An unmissable evening for anyone interested in inter-generational trauma, modern writing and media, and the history of colonialism.
